So he definitely did get a win on The Show, so I bumped his up to a more immediate review. He is, hilariously, the only member of NCT my mother knows the name of (other than Mark, but Mark is in all the NCT subunits (this is a joke)) and can also recognize on sight, but can never remember what his name is. So she knows Ten is a member of NCT, and she also knows what Ten looks like, but does not have his name attached to his face. To be fair though, she had nicknames for her favorite group for ages and could not remember

Am I crazy or are there sections of the instrumental that sound exactly the same NCT song that Mark's +82 Pressin' sounds like? I don't know that many NCT songs. There's another song that this also sounds like, but I haven't the foggiest idea of what it's supposed to be. It's got sections where it's very hip-hop, complete with grindy metallic thumps, and sections where it's a softer R&B and the requisite airy instruments. We get multiple sections where the instrumentals cut out to highlight Ten's voice, which is a good addition, because it enables a reset of the energy and the ears.

I love that we got a little bit of everything from Ten. We get singing and rap both, we've got sections that are clearly supposed to be more dance focused. And Ten has such a good voice. He's got a good roll going on with his voice while simultaneously feeling like he hits every single note dead-on without any extra drama going on. There's a lot vocally going on in the song, but it doesn't quite scratch the itch of what I was hoping it would be.

There was quite a bit of storyline to start off the song, which I was quite pleased about, but that doesn't carry through too strongly through the rest of the song. Though I'll also be the first to admit that I'm not exactly in a great mind-space for anything but a storyline that sticks out like a sore thumb, so it's possible that I simply have failed to notice. The black-and-white sections were interesting to see, and I appreciate them, especially with the way the light shines off the metal that looks like it's meant to be chrome. Some of the angles and the way they move in the latter half of the music video are a little funny to me, because it doesn't quite look real, but that's also were we get the really cool duet dance, so I'm okay with the slightly weird.
