Well, well, well. I've been seeing this song recommended to me all over the place and I was resisting it. (I am intending to actually sit down and watch some of those stages because I've heard some good stuff about them.) I did double check on ages because they're still fairly young, but maknae turned eighteen last year, so we're golden. Not so golden on the album runtime, bur it's a perpetual disappointment from HYBE groups for me across the board lately. Doesn't mean I'm not going to comment on it, because I'd like to make sure people are aware that HYBE has been stiffing their fans, but it is what it is.

The rock elements to the song are large and in charge here, but it's also surprisingly mellow. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say the song is in the vicinity of the 130s BPM range ish, which is objectively pretty fast, but I apparently listen to 150-180 regularly and that makes 130 feel kind of chill. There isn't a ton of variation going on, which is bothering me a little, but it does have a section where the instrumentals basically completely cut out, and that sudden shift is good for the song. I'm also a pretty big fan of the various sound effects available throughout the song, but the amount of repetition going on far outweighs the brief little blips.

The vocal fry is fascinating and not what I would have expected from the group, looking back at my (albeit limited) exposure to their discography. Still,  I'm not opposed to this shift. On the other hand, it is a little bit sing-songy for my taste as well as a little bit shouty. It matches the instrumentals well, though, so I do applaud the consistency.

I've decided I really like BOYNEXTDOOR's brand of just goofy music videos. Whatever else about them, the music videos never fail to make me smile or laugh. This time apparently they're taking on the KickFlip/NewBeat brand of youth songs which is something I'm not opposed to because it can be a wild, exhilarating time where you feel invincible and untethered, and even though I was quite boring and very busy when I was in the same age group as the members, I still remember that feeling. They did a really good job of embodying that. And the choreography is really nice. It looks like it's a lot of fun.
