Song Review:: Wonho (Monsta X): Syndrome- If You Wanna

  • Release date: 2025 October 31
  • Album tracklist: Fun, If You Wanna, DND, Scissors, At The Time, Beautiful, On Top of the World, Good Liar, Maniac, Better Than Me

  • Album runtime: 27 minutes

He’s giving us a proper album, y’all. Love that. The average length of the song is around 2:45, maybe a little less than that, but I’m slightly alarmed by that (especially because this title track is less than two-and-a-half minutes, which I am not about). But because almost all of the songs are quite a bit shorter than I’d like, that also means that there are going to songs that are of a good length. However, because I did the pre-release, I knew I had to get this one done. There are a couple of others that their title tracks have finally dropped that I need to do, but I’ll get this one done. Because it needs to be done.

\Okay, so that’s a heavy beat. That’s one of those beats that I’d be feeling in my bones during a concert and being grateful for my earplugs and a little concerned for my heart. Not that I have heart problems, but a really strong bass can apparently mess with your heartbeat. It’s not necessarily the kind of music I normally seek out. Now, that being said, I do also like songs where there is a special sound effect in the song. In this case? If You Wanna has a car added to it, which is both fitting for the vibe and also for the lyrics.

We’ve got a range between the slow, melodic rapping that I really like and the higher singing that I don’t particularly like as well. Still, it matches the genre really well. But also, the line about Vegas cowgirl, like yes, I know what he’s actually talking about, but I did go to a couple of rodeos when I lived there, so it’s just a little amusing. I do have to give a warning for explicit language, just so you all know. The song doesn’t get a chance to do anything different than it’s already doing because it’s so short, which is a shame.

Apparently rapping Wonho is a brand new thing. Well, he did a really good job. I couldn't tell.

So that's a seduction. It's not entirely overt, which is fun, but it is very clear. There is something weird about the music video that I don't think I particularly like, a weird, shiny, overly altered sheen to the whole thing. It's very distracting to what I would likely normally enjoy.
