You know, it's not every day that a group debuts with a full album. It's also not every day that a group debuts with an album that has only a single song that is over three minutes long. And it's not the title track. No, the title track is barely over two-and-a-half minutes. Good news, though, the maknae turns nineteen later this year, so we don't have to worry about them needing to be on Underage Protocol. Yay! At least something was done well! The company they're at was co-founded by Wheesung (who had gotten a lot of big awards over the course of his career, and I may be tempted to do one of his songs as an Expanded Offerings), so even thought I'm more familiar with him in a connaître rather than a savoir sort of way, if the statement from the company that he was very involved in debuting them and the company direction is correct, then I've actually got high hopes for them, even though I did not watch their debut project show. Tentatively of course. The runtimes do not inspire confidence.

Ooh, this has got an interesting latin vibe to the instrumental. It's been a minute since we last heard a song with this style of instrumental, and even longer since it's been a debut with this sound. I'm reminded a lot of the 90s or early 00s, but it doesn't quite sound like first gen kpop. I'm enjoying this. And honestly, the more I sit in this song, the more I'm enjoying it. The guitar having a melody going on in the instrumental does a lot for it while also allowing the song to maintain that strong beat without being overbearing. It's a good combination.

We don't get a good, solid belt from anyone, which is a little disappointing, and the ad-libs there at the end are not immediately audible in the way that makes me think that they're going to be a standout moment in live performances. However. We do get a little bit of a vibrato, and I'm pleased by that, even if they're generally a bit breathier than I want to be hearing. I have already added this to my playlist though. I'm enjoying this quite a bit.

And because they're not on Underage Protocol, I decided to listen to a couple of the other songs as part of this, because it's a debut and they need attention. Told U So is actually almost what I want to be seeing, so I'm pleaded that we got this as part of their debut album. It's got a lot going on vocally there at the end, and even though we've still got the breathier sound, it matches the instrumental really well. ($.$), and I'm not even sure how you're supposed to pronounce that, is a little bit heavier-handed in some ways, still a little breathy, but it reminds me a little bit of Ice Cream Cake by Red Velvet. Dive With Me has some gorgeous vocals and it's full-bodied and a little brassy in places, but also it's a bit lower and it's a little slinky. I'm kind of in love with this one.

Okay. We've got a storyline going on here and their outfits have a lot of cut-outs. The ring lights reflected in their eyes with some of those close ups had me smiling. We don't get a lot of color with this music video, which makes me a little sad, but we do get some, so it could be worse. Solid music video, a little disappointing as a debut music video, but what are you going to do?
