Song Review:: MOVNING: The road that shaped me

 The process that led me to discovering this group is as follows: for July in my Expanded Offerings, I'm only doing Battle of the B-Sides posts by artists I haven't yet covered there, so I was looking for some soloists to add to the Roulette Wheel I'm using. I looked up one (Son Yeji, or as I had to find her, 손 예지) and she has a song called "Ghost" which I decided to listen to even though it's a title track and thus can't do it this month, but I was curious about it for October potentiality. In my queue, I saw a song by something called "MOVNING" and I liked the title of the song. Turns out MOVNING is a band and this came out this month. SO I'm going to pause what I was doing to cover this.

That piano. The piano i the reason I looked up the band because I was really hoping this was a real song and not an AI artist. They are not. This is seriously such a pretty song. And when the guitar steps in to do the same melody that the piano had previously had, it adds such a level of aural complexity to the song. Beautiful.

This is the other reason why I decided to do this one. We've got a very nice vibrato from whichever one the main vocalist is. The vocals are a little bit thinner than I would like to hear because this kind of song needs a full voice to it. But. It's still very pretty. I will be looking into the rest of the discography.

We have a lyric video for this, which is fine because this is a digital single.

 I decided to spend some time this month on artists I haven't covered yet, which includes some younger and some older artists, and also on b-sides, because I've given a lot of attention to the title tracks the last couple of months and realistically, there are a lot more b-sides than there are title tracks floating out in the big wide world of music. People pay more attention to the title tracks for understandable reasons, but I really like the b-sides and they're a different side of groups than you get from the title tracks, you know? So, Candy Shop is a five-member girl group that debuted in 2024 under Brave Entertainment. One of the members is currently on hiatus, and I did review the last song they released, which was March of 2025, right after the maknae turned seventeen.  So when I was trying to decide how I was going to honor my boys getting discharged, I decided to give each one of them a song to represent another aspect about them other than just as idols. For Minhyun back in December, it was a NU'EST song he was a lyricist for (thank you Submitter, for tossing that into my lap and helping me decide how I was going to do this). For JR back in March, it was a song for which he learned to play the bass guitar that was in a drama he acted in. For Baekho, I'm going to do a song he has writing credits for (y'all are going to be surprised by what song I pick, but you've got about a year before you get to find out which one it is). Greatest Hits:: Seventeen: Not Alone {Japanese}

 I have changed which song I want to do for Jeonghan's discharge song three times now. I considered Pretty U, because I love the bit of the choreography where he does the cheek tapping move. And I would consider it for Joshua because of his iconic mistake, but since he's an LA native born and raised, he won't be getting discharged. And I have the cheek tapping move attached to Jeonghan. It's very cute. Then I thought about doing one of the Japanese releases because he learned Japanese to talk to the Japanese Carats because English and Chinese were already covered. My second favorite Seventeen song is a Japanese release, but I also feel like I want to hold onto Ima for a different occasion. Song Review:: IU: A flower bookmark, Pt. 3- Never Ending Story

I write faster and more easily when I can handwrite things. Also, airplanes (as long as someone isn't wearing a cologne or a perfume that makes me nauseated) are an excellent time to write these. Song Review:: BSS (Seventeen): Teleparty- CBZ (Prime Time)

So while I'm very, very excited for this particular song because I love BSS and their particular brand of cheerful chaos, that awareness sits on my shoulder and glares at me. But, as long as it isn't in the vicinity of sad, I'll likely be fine listening to it. The Hoshi x Woozi subunit coming up shortly may be a different story, but that's a problem for Future Fangirl to worry about. I know this is a few weeks late, but better late than never and it's at least still in August. Hello, and welcome!      As his first album under the new company, I'm sure most fans approached it with mild or moderate hesitation.       Luckily, I don't necessarily think we need have worried too much.       The song opens with some grindy electric guitar, an element I have to admit I'm a fan of in general. Song Review:: ILLIT: I'LL LIKE YOU- Cherish (My Love)

Release date: 2024 October 21 Album tracklist: I'll Like You, Cherish (My Love) , IYKYK (If You Know You Know), Pimple, Tick-Tack Album runtime: 12 minutes  I'm pretty vocal on my stance on minors in K-Pop. The fact that they're not allowed to stay for the end of year award shows seems to be pretty good evidence that they really shouldn't be working in groups like this anyway; at least, not yet. But until enough people can say "stop exploiting the children," nothing is going to change. In the case of ILLIT, yes, their maknae turned sixteen this year, much like Dino of Seventeen when they debuted. But, also like Seventeen, the group as a whole gets to squeak by in my books on a technicality: she didn't turn sixteen after they debuted (which means she turns seventeen in their first year, which is tolerable though not ideal), and at least half of the group was already fully eighteen or older at debut. Song Review:: fromis_9: From Our 20's- LIKE YOU BETTER

This is their third company, and that can't be easy on the members or the fandom. Still! With new environments come new opportunities! And while I did have to round up, title track and half the songs are over three minutes, so I'm cool with this. Only took two listens for me to add it to my fave releases of 2025 playlist. Good news for the song, it's got lots of delicious and enthusiastic texture. It's also rock, which I'm naturally inclined to love. Love that. The average length of the song is around 2:45, maybe a little less than that, but I’m slightly alarmed by that (especially because this title track is less than two-and-a-half minutes, which I am not about). But because almost all of the songs are quite a bit shorter than I’d like, that also means that there are going to songs that are of a good length. However, because I did the pre-release, I knew I had to get this one done. There are a couple of others that their title tracks have finally dropped that I need to do, but I’ll get this one done.
