I've actually already seen the little comment Jun. K made about bringing Changbin in for this song, and it's so sweet, on both ends. See, this is the kind of thing I like to see: company seniors and juniors interacting and working together. 2PM have proven to be very good sunbaes for Stray Kids, and Stray Kids have shown themselves to be competent, respectful hoobaes. There's an eleven year age difference and a nine year experience difference, but they're both very, very good at what they do, so this should be a treat. Other than the runtime. That would be a good one for four songs, not five.
So I love how eerie and spooky and warped that intro is. Love it. It doesn't stay and the addition of the vocals softens it into something that is simply quietly supportive, maintaining the general sound while taking out that distinctive texture. It saddens me a little bit. Even the percussion is weirdly subdued though. The song isn't long enough to get good traction going, and just as soon as you're hitting the gorgeous ad-libs, things go a capella and the song is over, cut off in its prime. Sweet? Yes, actually. It's the kind of song that invites you to join in a gentle hug. But it's just over too short and doesn't have the room to really develop well.
I'm mishearing lyrics again, everyone. I'm almost positive I didn't just hear the words "singing with the man boobs", so I'll definitely be checking out the lyrics to figure out what I should have been hearing. The contrast between Jun. K's soft, breathy vocals and Changbin's lower, lyrical rapping is actually quite pretty. Jun. K has some amazing vocals and while most of the song doesn't show them off to what they could be, those ad-libs make it clear that they're not to be underestimated.
Ooh, we've got a storyline going on. That's good. Love the storyline. We also get a bare-chested Jun. K, though he is wearing a jacket, so he could be more undressed. That does make what I misheard, which ended up actually being "singing rhythm and blues", kind of funny in a very specific kind of way. Still, this is a very soft music video that's a full-blown love story.
