Yes! We have another member of Pentagon doing a solo release! Am I still hoping for some full (or mostly full) group activities in the near future? Yup! But in the meantime, I can allow the solo activities to tide me over. I can be patient and wait. He has a one-man agency, which means that he's got a lot of weight on his shoulders, but he has the experience from working with the group's songs to be able to fill in a lot of the necessary roles and know who to work with to fill in his gaps. As expected, he's listed as a lyricist and a composer for this song. But that run time? It's rounded up. I'm a little disappointed by that. Not going to lie.
This is the exact kind of music I like to listen to at work. High energy, high aggression with the squealing electric guitar, high emotional satisfaction when I can't yell at people for not being able to follow simple instructions. The electric guitar plays around a lot more than I would have expected, but otherwise, this is just a great angry-break-up song. Give me the rock and the chops to successfully pass it off.
I like Kino's voice here. Rock is a good genre for him here. It reminds me of 2009, not as much as iNSTEAD! by Xdinary Heroes does, but I'm definitely nudged pretty close to it. Also, there's some Avril Lavigne to his voice. Actually, now that I'm thinking about Avril Lavigne, you know what song matches tonally with Kino's voice? 2 Minus 1 by Joshua and Vernon of Seventeen. You could stick Everglow and 2 Minus 1 into a playlist together, and they'd fit well together. Kino has some really good stuff going on with his voice, and I'm very much here for it.
Ah, a music video made up of concert videos. Love this genre. And this one was well-edited together, even though I'm not entirely sure how much of what we see here is actually him performing the song, but that's less of a problem for me. Others, it may be more of a problem, but this genre is typically more about the authenticity of performance, rather the authenticity of the performance for the song, if that makes sense.
