Yes, TEMPEST. Y'all, I really kind of like this group, and I know I haven't had a ton of comebacks with them yet, but I still look forward to their releases when I get one. Lighthouse is still one of my favorites that they've done and I was so excited that they performed it on Road to Kingdom: Ace of Ace.
That beginning bit of the song before the vocals step in remind me a little bit of FML by Seventeen, which did initially have me expecting something a lot heavier, but the song splits its time between a grounded but not weighted sound and something a lot airier. The verses get the grounding bass and the chorus gets the lightness, which I thought was an interesting choice. I also like the way that the synth is very distinct in places, even though it isn't necessarily the main star. In other places, the synth sounds a little bit like shooting stars, which is pretty cool.
So it's Falsetto city over here for the chorus. It's a very soft song where the vocals are breathy and tender. There's not a lot of English for me to work with, so I have to rely on vibes. I will say that the beginning, because I'm expecting FML, startles me every time. It's just funny. So we have one spot of rapping in the song, and it's almost delicate which is amusing and satisfying considering it doesn't feel like that particular rapper's style tends toward delicateness, but at the same time, it's followed by a member who is so clearly a rapper that that's almost more amusing to me.
Now that is what we call a music video. Wow. Baksu for the acting there, TEMPEST. That's incredible. It feels like a Grimm Fairytale, but with a happy ending, you know? Just amazing.
