Song Review:: E'LAST: Versus- Crazy Train

  • Release date: 2025 May 07
  • Album tracklist: Crazy Train, Gotham, Emergency, Drive, Misery
  • Album runtime: 15 minutes

Spotify keeps throwing their previous songs at me, which I'm not going to complain about because some of them? Yowza. Literally everything I could want in a song. Big. Dramatic. Heavily saturated in a multitude of colors.  So when I saw E'LAST on the comeback schedule, I was super excited. Dark Dream is legitimately one of my favorite songs that I've heard since starting this little K-Pop journey of mine. It can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. So, yeah. Tentatively high expectations for this mini album. Also, I love the titles of the songs. Those are flavorful titles. I'm also horribly peeved that they haven't gotten a win yet. Maybe this comeback. That would be cool.

I'm so satisfied. This is a comfortably dark rock song, as expected. Probably my favorite part is the end with the vocal flairs happening and the bass guitar just doing its thing underneath with nothing else going on. It doesn't get in the way, while simultaneously being very supportive of the vocals. That bass needs some credit for just being present and giving everything else the spotlight to shine. It's there even when nothing else is. I do wish that this song was longer, because it is under three minutes, and a big dance break could have been really fun. Also, another shout out to the whistling in the beginning.

Rock band, what? The growls they've got going on, and even though I don't know their names or, really anything about them, but I'm pretty we're hearing a great example of rapper rasp going on sometimes, and you know how I like to hear a rapper rasp. The fact that I'm hearing it especially at the beginning with the "All aboard!" brings me more joy than I can possibly put into words. The riffs? The ad-libs? I really wish that they had a dance break in there, because the energy of the songs kind of asks for one, and it would give everyone a little bit of a vocal rest. But at least they've got enough members that they have the chance to get a little bit of a break.

And I counted, and they're missing two. So, one moment. I have to go see why. Interesting. Leader Boy (who is going to be my bias because that's how this works and we all know this) is currently in the military band, so that's super exciting. I'll have to hunt down a photocard to add to The Wall. Seungyeop, second eldest, was discharged last year and has apparently been on a health-related hiatus since. Which is concerning. But, apparently the other members still mention him occasionally, so that's good.

Okay, back to the music video. I can't decide if the music video has them in a video game or if they're just playing them. Or is it a situation where they're playing a video game about video games? I don't know. Apparently, I need to go check out the music video for Gasoline too because it seems as though there is Lore happening that I don't know about. Apparently a lot of Lore. As expected, the choreography is pretty intense, and it's cool that they make their symbol in it. Generally speaking, well done.
