Song Review:: TOMORROW X TOGETHER:: Love Language
- Release date: 2025 May 02
- Album tracklist: Love Language
- Album runtime: 3 minutes
Well, HYBE, I'm pleased to see they've gotten a song that's longer than two and a half minutes. While we're still under three, it's within an acceptable margin, and thus, here we are. Now, with that out of the way, I saw a bit of the choreography while I was wandering about on Facebook yesterday (today as of writing, but this will be scheduled to post tomorrow), and I almost spat out my root beer. I thought that was Taemin, but no. That was my darling Soobin. So, the post was promptly sent to my Stay friend with what amounted to a keyboard smash of disbelief.
I thought this was starting out fully a capella and so I increased my volume. Nope. But, close enough. Also, the intro reminds me irresistibly of Habit by Seventeen's vocal unit, and while I'll probably refer back to the song when it comes to do the vocals sections, that's fairly high praise already. I can't say that I'm overly fond of the instrumentals with that slightly screechy skittering beat, but it doesn't stay in the song through the entire thing, so it's not something that's there to drive me to distraction. On the contrary, there's actually a really rhythm and vibe that's built up with the different sections, between the skittering beat and the softer, more heartfelt sections. It's also more effective because the song actually has length, but I'm not going to hop onto my soapbox today.
I said I would, but I'm reminded quite a bit of Habit. It's probably only a 12.5% similarity though, compounded by the vocal layering and harmonization at the beginning, which is probably where I'm reminded most. I'm also hearing similarities with Dance The Night from Barbie. That's because they use the same ascending scale (which legitimately is one of my favorite vocal techniques because they're so fun to sing) in similar spots in the respective songs. Thumbs up from me.
They're cute. I'm sensing a tiny bit of a storyline here, not enough to comment on nor is it enough to shift it out of a vibes and visuals, but it looks like they're having fun. Also, as befitting a love song, the music video uses a lot of soft lighting. None of the members get full glamor shots, and it's got a lot of summer vibes, which is fitting for the time of year it's releasing, so all in all, it feels pretty cohesive.
