  • Album runtime: 18 minutes

So apparently this group actually had their debut last month, so I'm leaving that draft in there so I remember to do it. It's the debut. Obviously I'm going to cover it now that I know it's the debut. I think this might also be the group debuting under the western producer, now that I think about it. And this song is almost four minutes long, so I am all about that, no matter what's going on in the song. Unfortunately, this is going under Underage Protocol because the maknae turns sixteen at the end of this month, which is after their debut. Shame. They were so close. Literally only about a month. Alas. There's also a boy group called VVS, and I missed one of their releases last year, so I'll have to rectify that, and also make it clear which one I'm talking about. And another also, Vanner's fandom name is VVS.

There's no way that this can't be confusing. I'm deeply disappointed in this company for not doing due (and really simple) research, considering VVS (Vanner's fandom) has been around since probably at least 2020 and VVS (boy group) debuted in 2023. Sigh.

Also, mature language warning.

The hip-hop to this one is slow and heavy, which I actually really appreciate. There's a very faint Halloweeny-style, higher instrumental that really adds a lo of texture to the song even though it's so subtle. There is, generally, little variation to the instrumental, which would normally drive me kind of nuts, but it's so slow and weighty, it's not a problem. I wish this song was from an older group, both in age of group and age of members, because I'd probably jam with it.

This is the point where I am steepling my fingers and sighing. The group has barely debuted. Where is it presumed that they have the street cred and the clout to be rapping like this? And yeah, I know, music doesn't need to autobiographical, blah, blah, blah, but it should be honest. And there are minors in this group. The language is unnecessary. Now, all that being said, they sound so good. There isn't a lot of variation in their tones or rapping styles, so I'm struggling to tell exactly how many members there are and who is rapping when. They all kind of have similar voices.

That's a music video. It's very weird, and I like the connection at the end with the new member, but it also largely lacks a storyline. Because of that, I kind of found myself a little unfocused about halfway through. So, that's interesting. I've never noticed a problem paying attention with a lot of the other vibes and visuals music videos, but they've largely been fairly short, so I think I've discovered a weakness of this style of music video. Interesting. It's a lot of posturing with minimal choreography. It's interesting. I think I prefer just listening to the track.
