I'm going to say something meaningful in a moment, but first, I need to talk about that title. Is that style still used for mocking things? Does it mean something different in Korea when you randomly capitalize letters? I have questions, but hopefully the song itself will answer some of them. Moving on, I'm caught between being pleased that Cortis isn't just being left after their debut and concerned that they're this busy, especially given that all but one of them are minors. It does give me an acceptable reason to listen to their stuff when I can't recreationally listen to them, because with one hit and one miss for me, I'm genuinely really curious about all of this. If you didn't catch either of my reviews for their debut and pre-debut songs, the links are up there, and I'm running on the Underage Protocol for the group because they have too many minors. It's been a hot minute since I had a group go into the Underage Protocol for that rather than for debuting someone under sixteen.
Okay. There's a BTS song where the percussion line reminds me a lot, but I can't go look for it right now because I can only listen to this once for this section and once next section and that'll just distract me. It feels like the instrumental only has two options: the skittering beat or rests. That's interesting, because up until the first rest, things had been so consistent that I'd started to zone out a little, but that first a cappella section had my attention back on the song, and I figured that it would simply be a one-and-done, but then it wasn't. I appreciate that, as do I the break in the regularly scheduled instruments. It's not my favorite kind of instrumental, but it reminds me a bit of some other groups, including the BTS song I haven't gone searching for. But I do really like the very beginning of this. That's nice.
A lot of repetition, which is not my favorite, nor do I particularly like the auto-tune effect applied, but that's just a standard preference from me. Again, there's a BTS song that this one sounds like, although I do think I like that one better than this one. This just isn't the style I tend to like or listen to, and that's fine. But if you like the hip-hop sort of sound with a lot of rap and light on the vocals, you'll likely like this one. I don't, but it's not because I think this is bad.
Accidentally didn't manage to pause it in time. I like the first three seconds of JoyRide. Can someone tell me if that's one that I'll probably like or not so I can add it to my playlist I've got specifically for songs I can't listen yet, but would if they weren't underage?
It's not the one I thought it was that reminded me. I've only got 19 of their songs added, and I knew it was one of them. This song reminds me of Run BTS. Anyway. Carry on.
Yeah, this just isn't my kind of song. Which is fine. The lyrics are actually kind of cool, talking about how it doesn't matter how much the threads cost but rather how you pull it off that matters, and the music video has some interesting shots to it. I think if I were to re-watch this with the sound off, I'd probably have quite a lot to say about it. I will say this: the choreography looks really cool.
