Song Review:: Forestella: LEGACY: Still Here {Pre-Release}

  • Release date: 2025 December 15

  • Album tracklist: Still Here

  • Album runtime: 4 minutes

 I had to apportion out the reviews because I didn't quite get WayV's out when I wanted to. But that just means that I get to drop Forestella's first today. And, best of all, Woorim is out of the military and we get our bass back. Woorim is part of the incredibly talented 95z and I do have to wonder what was in the water in South Korea in '94 and the very beginning of '95 because wow. Also, if this is your first Forestella song, you're in for a treat. When I mean he's a bass, I mean he's a classically trained bass who could probably make your bones rattle when he sings. (If you haven't heard their performance of Bad Romance from Immortal Singers, well, they turned it into a gothic vampire drama and also is the reason why I know who they are, so enjoy that before we get into this. Also, this, by the way, is what I'm looking for in terms of harmonies and there's no reason why the kpop groups can't do it, especially the ones with larger numbers and on their b-sides if they don't want to have a title track this focused on vocals. Y'all, I want to hear them live so badly. I'm fine. It's fine.) And they gave us a four-and-a-half minute song.

So this is what I'm inclined to call a full orchestral soundtrack track in terms of the instrumental, and honestly, I'm having a hard time focusing on it because there are so many delicious things going on vocally up above it. Oh, no, that means I'm going to have to listen to it a lot so that I can write this review. Oh, what a hardship to listen to the gorgeousness. That was sarcasm, by the way. It starts off a little moody and reminds me a little of the melody for Grown Up Christmas Wish, but then once the vocals start up, it backs off a lot to highlight and support the vocals rather than go anywhere near overshadowing them. But this is the benefit of a song this long. There are breaks built in to let the song both breathe and move the energy using the instrumental. I'm a little in awe of how well this is written because there is an inherent story with the instrumental alone.

I'm glad I had you guys listen to Bad Romance to prep y'all for the harmonies here. Honestly, this kind of sounds like a Disney song, specifically a Disney song from the 90s, something of the same variety as Beauty and the Beast, and it doesn't help that I keep being reminded of Evermore, the new song that got added to the live-action remake, which, to tell you how much I love that song, was top ten on Spotify Wrapped for like three years after the movie came out. It's that same grandiose, aria style, but with harmonies, because there are four of them to sing it. It's absolutely gorgeous. The other interesting thing worth noting is that the song is fully in English. Have a hug for a song. Just enjoy it.

So, it's a lyric video, which normally I wouldn't comment too much on, but the imagery used of a soprano on a stage as well as an art museum so fully fits with the vibes I'm picking up that I need to comment. And watch the whole thing. It gets really cool.
