So far so good with this song. It is shorter than three minutes, but barely, which does bode well for the album as a whole if the pre-release is already this long. Fingers crossed. It's a weird kind of stress doing a pre-release for an album that will be released in the new year, but I'm excited it's for him. From what I understand, he's one of those artists that is really good in just about every position you can have them in, and he's a resident hype man for the group.
I hit play on this song and almost immediately froze. It was of course accompanied by a disbelieving smile. We've got the bed springs sound effect, which is a bold choice and honestly tells me what I need to know about a song in a language I'm not even close to being fluent in. Other notable elements of this instrumental include a jazzy piano at the end and some other very high and floaty notes to give the generally chill R&B instrumental a little bit of an extra flavor note, which is something that I appreciate a lot.
We got Joohoney the rapper for this song, which is fun. It's a really good contrast between his heavier weighted lines and Rei's softer, floatier vocals. We do also get some of vocalist Joohoney minimally, which actually enhances the entire song by being a little bit of a flex of his well-roundedness, rather than distracting from the rest of the song.
This music video manages to be both cute and unsettling, though admittedly the second one could be because my friend sent me a TikTok on "anatomically correct Santa" that gave her ideas about a Christmas one-shot and is just absolute pure nightmare fuel. But abandoned buildings like this give me the heebie jeebies anyway, as do the words written in places. It's giving strong simulation vibes, and I don't like it. And by that, I actually mean that it's delicious and I love it. The dichotomy between the song and the lyrics, and the music video is completely wonderful.
