So, I didn't get to their debut single last year, but I am still properly curious about this band. They're a co-ed band both things I tend to love, and while I don't know the ages of most of them, one of them is pre-2000, so I'm hoping the others are around there as well. And Lyle is the band's producer as well.
They have the sound I expect to hear from a band, and I like that. The verses are actually fairly soft, which does excellent work in making the moments when the energy fully bursts to make that seem even louder. With such a young band, that level of control on the part of Lyle as producer/writer has my attention. During one of my creative writing classes, I was told that the mark of a skilled writer is being able to produce the desired emotional effect while simultaneously hiding the manipulation so that the average reader doesn't notice the tools and tricks. I haven't heard enough of a sample size from them to be able to say definitively if they've got it right now or if this is a fluke, but this is promising.
I think the vocalist is Myu, although don't quote me on that yet. Regardless, she's got an incredible voice, and my interest is piqued. The song as a whole reminds me of a video game or an anime with enough final boss energy that even if I weren't inclined towards bands anyway, my love of both of the other aforementioned things would have done it for me. Her voice is rich and vibrato-filled, and the song does an excellent job of showcasing it.
Less than ten thousand views at time of posting. I really like band performance videos because you get to see exactly which instruments are when, as well as get that actual performance aspect. As an indie group, I'm not expecting a proper music video for a while, but I'm curious to see what we could get from them once we get to that point. Enjoy the song. I may have to go back and take a look at their debut.
