Song Review:: WAKER: In Elixir: Spellbound- LiKE THAT

 If we remove the last track, that's nine tracks and 28 minutes. This group debuted in 2024, which made me raise an eyebrow, but we're good. The maknae turns twenty-three this year, so at minimum he was twenty-one at debut. I'm also not positive that I know a lot about them. Though, to be fair, they've only released a single and an OST since I started writing this, which is now over a year. So that's a little worrisome. I hope I like this so that I can be loud about them. I have however heard Vanilla Choco Shake, now that I think about it. I think I liked that one. The title track is unfortunately one of the two-and-a-half minute songs, but things could be worse. The entire album could be under three minutes per song. 

The instrumental is in that same funky vein as Boom Boom Bass by RIIZE, which I didn't particularly love the first time I heard it but has since warmed on me a lot. That, naturally, has spilled into this song. With the song as short as it is, there isn't any room for it to breathe, and as such, it tends towards having the majority of the song being at a very consistent pace and energy level. 

Vocally, they're a lot more interesting than the instrumental. We've got cheering, lower not-quite rumbles, higher bursts, especially during the chorus. I like that we've got lower voices going on, and not necessarily only delegated to the rappers. I'm also pleasantly surprised that the song isn't too repetitive, which is always a worry when a song is this short. Overall, not bad.

I do recommend listening to the whole album, because while this one doesn't necessarily strike my fancy like I want, there are at least three others that I'm kind of in love with. Possibly a fourth. I haven't decided yet.

One of the members wears a crop top. It's nice. I'm sad about After School Club suddenly again, because this dance challenge would be great for the three of them to do.
