Song Review:: ALL(H)OURS: My Spring, My Light, My Breath {Pre-Release}

 Okay, so this group is kind of hit and miss for me with their music, at least with their title tracks. I've found a few of their b-sides that I do actually really like, so I'm curious with this song, especially since apparently this is a pre-release for an upcoming mini album I didn't know about. Or maybe I did. I haven't checked my planner for the upcoming releases in February in a while and I was a little focused on surviving January. But this is also a gloriously lengthed song and I couldn't be happier.

This instrumental is just so gorgeous from the start because it’s relatively simple while simultaneously being incredibly grounded. It’s a love song, plain and simple. No extra bells and whistles, a softness that opens its arms to let the vocals and the ears listening to rest, distract from the song. Even in the moments where it becomes more energetic, rather than using one of the other methods, it uses the comparison of quiet to make the louder sections seem louder. We do have a slightly different balance of instruments there, but they’re not a big burst of sound.

Did I mention that this is a love song? I don’t understand enough of the Korean to know if this is a fan song subgenre of love song. I’ll have to find the lyrics somewhere. Hopefully the music video has them included. The balance of the vocals and rapping creates a good sense of contrast, but the energy remains the same, even if the tone and style change. It’s a very pleasant, very bright song, and I love how the energy levels of the singing and the rapping rise together steadily so at no point is it jarring. Beautiful.

Oh, it's one of these! It's part concert clip and part behind the scenes from various points in the past. I love these music videos. They're always so heartwarming and soft! And they are officially two (which also means that their songs get to start qualifying for GH posts, though all of the BBS posts are always a possibility)!
