Song Review:: RIIZE: II- Do your dance

  • Release date: 2026 June 15
  • Album tracklist: SOAR, Do your dance, D-D-Done, Overdrive, Like a Bomb, In a Loop
  • Album runtime: 18 minutes

I actually completely forgot that they'd released their new album, and I was looking forward to it too. Time is a soup right now and even the endless parade of releases I'm aware of and looking forward to is doing little to keep my attention on the here and now. Ah, well. Don't mind me. I'm just being a little maudlin.

This specific kind of instrumental is one that hits my nervous system in exactly the wrong way. It's a song for clubbing and flashing lights in a dark room while you're jumping and dancing to the music. I'm not going to be able to listen to this song too much while I write this, but I'll do it as long as I can for the review. There are some interesting video game sound effects and beeps to it, which did catch my attention initially, but they are infrequent enough and the rest of the instrumental is aggressive enough that not even the video game aspect of the song is enough to let me settle in and adjust. There is one part right there near the end where I wince every time it starts back up. But this is me and my nervous system. This song is one of those that if you decide it's the best song you've ever heard, more power to you.

This sounds like the male version of an aespa song, which is interesting because normally I associate them with sounding more like SHINee. but that's not my favorite. It also reminds me a bit of a Cortis song, which is another group I haven't been super enthused with so far with my limited interaction with them. The repetition during the chorus is driving me up the wall a little bit, but my nervous system is not responding well. Very repetitive. I do like the play between the singing and the rapping in the first verse and I love the pre-chorus, but not well enough for it to compensate for how much I'm not a fan of the amount of repetition in the chorus. I will say though that I really like the name drop going on, twice, in the second verse.

D-D-Done, however, I really like this song. I'm good with that one. I've got my b-side that I like to collect from albums. And you know what? I may do it because they dropped a performance video, which means that it's a promoted b-side.

RIIZE is continuing to have some insane choreography. This is largely a vibes and visuals music video, which is fine, although there might be some lore-esque elements. I doubt they're connected to the SM lore though.
