The Expanded Offerings: A Journey Through the Highways and Hidden Paths of K-Pop
It's taken me over a year to figure out what to call this series collectively because typing out "Greatest Hits and Battle of the B-Sides posts" every time I want to refer to those posts is both inefficient and not clever enough for my taste.
One side of this blog, the original part, is for things that are part of the current portion of K-Pop, which is where my reviews, weekly music show wins, and monthly wrap-ups belong. They are current. They are timely. They are about the current state of K-Pop as it is right now.
This new hub page, by contrast, is for everything else. You're going to find the Greatest Hits and Battle of the B-Sides posts (see? It takes me two whole seconds to type that and it takes you as long or longer to read it every time I want to refer to them) as the front door and introduction to everything that K-Pop has to offer that I've covered in my celebratory posts. These range from the mega hits and S-Tier groups that everyone knows to songs that have never been performed or groups that disbanded within their first year. And while you can find them in other places, this time you get them in historical order.
You can also find (spoilers for my new segment when I decide I want to start posting them) interesting covers, because I think covers regularly get overlooked and they're actually a really good indication of a healthy music ecosystem with the artists interacting with and reinterpreting music that isn't theirs, and sometimes showing which songs they're listening to and know. Regardless of whether or not the cover artist is "as good as" the original is not the point.
So, if you want all of the Greatest Hits posts listed by artist, here you go:
If you want all of the Battle of the B-Side posts listed by artist, here you go:
If you're looking for the cover posts, 아직 없습니다.
Welcome, Dearest Readers, officially, to The Expanded Offerings, where we get to wander through K-Pop and simply enjoy what it has to offer.
