2025 Music Show Recap

 And that's it, folks! That's a full year of the music show wins! Which means it's now time for the recap and data analysis! Delicious, delicious data.

Now this is on the assumption that I counted correctly. I did double check my numbers to make sure, but I could have had a mental blip somewhere at the exact same time or skipped something twice. It's possible. I am however about 97.35% positive that I have correct numbers in the raw data and that I did the math correctly before dumping it into the spreadsheet for chart creation. Because I like charts and numbers. Not enough to take any math classes in college, but enough that I've always done well in and enjoyed math.

Also, because I do not want the thumbnail of this to be a graph, I'm going to share a stage I really liked. (There's also a reason for it, but you'll have to read on to find out what that is.) Enjoy some Seventeen.

Now, just some interesting numbers and points of interest before I fully get into the crunchy numbers and graphs.

1) There were no new additions to The Show wins after the middle of November. Because it got canceled.

2) If we're assuming that the year has 52 weeks and thus 52 possible wins, one of the programs had an astonishing number of wins. 96.2% of total possible wins were given this year.

3) By comparison, with six music shows and 52 possible wins per music show, that gives us a total of 312 possible wins. The percentage of actual wins given out of those possible wins is at a still fairly respectable 77.2%.

So this first chart is just the number of wins per program. Simple. Neat. Something nice to look at, you know? Range is from 24-50. The mean is 40 wins per show over the course of 2025.

I did also mention the win percentages, so I'm going to add that one in as well because I just wanted to show them off as well since I did the math, you know? The bars look more or less the same, but it's a different perspective to look at those wins with, a different set of contexts. The difference between Show! Music Core and Inkigayo is a little bit more visible this way, though. I like that.

And then, to show that data in a different way, a different perspective, here's the percentage of the total 241 wins each show got. (If you're colorblind and that doesn't work well, let me know. I worry a little bit about the green and the yellow next to each other, but from conversations I've had with my colorblind friends, I made sure to make them different darkness so theoretically even if you can't tell the difference in color, you should be able to tell that they're different slices?)

Because this is the post with all of the fun details that were largely glossed over in the weekly music show wins posts, here's some of the other things worth mentioning in the realm of the wins.

First up: Triple Crowns

There were a total of 16 Triple Crowns achieved by groups over the course of 2025, split amongst MCountdown, Show! Music Core, and Inkigayo. MCountdown had 4 (IVEJennieBLACKPINKaespa), Show! Music Core had 6 (G-Dragon, IVE, G-Dragon, BLACKPINK, aespa, NMIXX), and Inkigayo had 6 (G-Dragon, IVE G-Dragon, BLACKPINK, aespa, NMIXX). Whoo!

G-DRAGON=4 (note: two different songs)
IVE=3
BLACKPINK=3
aespa=3
NMIXX=2
Jennie=1

This is actually fascinating. First off all, the Big 3 are all represented with YG the most represented, considering that Jennie and G-Dragon both started out there and the stocks were very clearly affected by these successes even if neither of them are there anymore. The outlier here is Starship, though IVE is no less impressive. They've been doing well. It's also interesting to note that every group on here, except the returning king, debuted in the last ten years. IVE, NMIXX, and aespa all debuted this decade even. It would be interesting to go back and see how things shift, but that's why I'm doing this now so that we can look back at this in the future.

Next up: Highest Scores

Each of the music shows had a specific win that had the highest win score for the year, and I'm so proud as a fan. Not as a fan, there are a couple of things I want to talk about. So, in order of highest to lowest scores, here are the big winners for the year.

  1. Music Bank: 6/13 Enhypen "Bad Desire (With or Without You)" - 15,416
  2. MCountdown: 6/5 Seventeen "Thunder" - 10,567
  3. Show! Music Core: 6/7 Seventeen "Thunder" - 9,655
  4. The Show: 11/11 AHOF "Pinocchio" - 9,610
  5. Show Champion: 4/30 TWS "Countdown!" - 9,394
  6. Inkigayo: 3/16 G-Dragon (BIGBANG) "Too Bad" - 8,906

Okay, so. Some interesting things I'm noticing in this stretch so far. First, there's only one song that's on both of those two lists: G-Dragon (BIGBANG) "Too Bad". He's also the only male artist in the triple crown list, the only artist two have two songs get a triple crown this year, and the only soloist on the high scores list. He also got the highest number of triple crowns this year at 4, but has the lowest high score (interestingly, he's also the only one of those high scores who did not promote on the music show he won on.) And G-Dragon is also older than anyone else on this list (including debuting before some of the members of TWS and AHOF were born). So, if anyone is wondering why G-Dragon ended up getting so many awards at the end-of year award shows after spending almost a decade on hiatus, simply point them to this.

4/6 of the highest scores are under HYBE, 3/6 under Pledis. There's only one group that got two spots here and that's Seventeen.

We're going to flip on the fan hat for a second.

Whoo! Go Seventeen! Down two members due to military hiatus! Ten years active! Still showing off how amazing they are with no signs of stopping! I am so proud of them and of the Carats for giving that gift to them!

Fan hat off.

It's actually really impressive how a pretty recent debut, literally 2025 debut) managed to get such a high score as well.

And I included the dates here because I wanted to point something out. All of them except for one were in the first half of 2025. The only exception to that is, again, AHOF, but that was also interestingly The Show's final episode.

I'm also fascinated by the fact that Music Bank had, by far, the most number of wins available to it, and it also had the highest high score here.

Okay, I think that's everything.

Here's the link to all the the music show win posts.

Here are the numbers that I've been using all of this for.

And last but not least, here are all of the music show wins by quarter. Yes, you can find these in the music show win posts page, but this is partly for the sake of completion and partially because I've put a lot of work into keeping track of all of these and would like to give you a sample of that work, more than what's already here, to help convince you to take a look at the posts for the wins.

Thank you for your time, everyone! Have a lovely time! I'll be back next year with another one of these!

Oh, and if you made it down this far, I just found out that in the episode of Friends where we meet Gary the cop, Phoebe's name is written on the blackboard behind her for Friday and Saturday as live music. That's a really cool detail and despite having seen the show...probably at least fifteen times in full, I've never noticed it before.
