So this song popped up on YouTube (the YouTube algorithm is really helpful in a lot of ways because it does help me with keeping songs on my radar), and I had never heard of this group (solo artist? It's hard to tell), and I also hadn't had it on my radar beforehand, so I'm going to do it now before I forget or get distracted, but because I'm wholly unfamiliar with this group or artist, I do need to look into them. Oh! I do actually know who this is! FTISLAND had them open for them last year I think? They're FNC's new rock band, N.Flying's little brothers. Okay. I actually have semi-high hopes for them considering I like FTISLAND and CNBLUE, and I adore N.Flying, which makes AxMxP (read: "amp") the latest in quite the legacy of idol rock bands. And going through the list for ages because we have to check, we have a 20-year-old, a 19-year-old, an 18-year-old, tentatively hopeful that the maknae is a good age, and he is not. FNC debuted a fifteen-year-old. Why, FNC? Why? Oh, that means he was thirteen when they opened for FTISLAND, assuming he was part of that line-up. Fine. They're going into Underage Protocol and I'll likely be dumping this song into my Fall Out Boy styled playlist "Wish I Could Listen To, But The Members Are Too Young Still". I haven't heard it yet. I'm just assuming. Why must you do this to him? I get that you want to get as much time out of the boys as you can before they enlist, but come on! And it's a full album too. Fine. I'll love them from afar most likely. The sad part is the maknae of a certain HYBE group is only two years older than him, and I still can't listen to that group even though they debuted three years ago. So that's where we're at.

The song starts with a rolling, almost country-esque electric guitar at the beginning. I, as you can imagine, was immediately here for that. Is it definitely rock? Yes. But there have been stretches where country goes more rock, and this reminds me of those times. At least as far as the guitar goes. The song also has a little bit of a skittering beat, which gives it quite a bit of a hip-hop vibe to it. The blend between the two is solid and functions quite well and says a lot for a band I can't listen to for three years on my own time. Looking forward to that. There's a lot of attention from the guitar, as expected and one of my favorite things about rock groups. But this is genuinely a fascinating mix of genres that work so well together.

I wasn't expecting the rapping. It creates an interesting sound for a rock band, though not necessarily one that I prefer, especially with the chanting. It'll likely be an excellent performance, crowd hyping song, which are certainly necessary. As a debut song, it feels a little more one dimensional than I'd like, which is a little unfortunate, but on the other hand, this is the sort of thing to allow them to catapult themselves onto the scene. This kind of sound will hype people up well. Is it my thing? Not really, and I'm okay with that. On the other hand, this is a debut song and this is a bit too much on the swaggery, bragadocious side of lyrics, which is something I frown upon until a group has the street cred to back it up. Also, the line "Invincible like an NPC." NPCs are famously not invincible, so either this is an error in translation on the writing end or it's part of a deeper meaning. I can't spend a lot of time parsing through which I think it's more likely to be because I can't listen to the song. But, here we are.

Vibes and visuals, everyone. I'd love to say that we got a storyline, but we don't. We do get quite a few shots of them playing their instruments, which is nice and helpful for associating which member does what, but that's kind of as far as it goes. Could be worse.
